Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke Controversy Leads to Government Ban: Women’s Panel Starts Investigation Into Song Content
National Commission for Women Issues Notice to Nora Fatehi and Sanjay Dutt: The song Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke from the film KD: The Devil has become a topic of major controversy. Many people have objected to its lyrics and scenes, calling them vulgar. The issue was also raised in the Lok Sabha, after which the government banned the song.
The National Commission for Women has taken action in this matter. It has sent notices to actor Sanjay Dutt, actress Nora Fatehi, and other members of the film’s team. The commission said it received several complaints claiming that the song shows women in a negative way and may have a bad impact on children. It has started an investigation and asked the team to submit written replies.
The controversy started because many viewers felt that the song’s content was inappropriate. Due to growing protests, the makers removed the song from YouTube. However, the matter has now reached the courts, and legal proceedings have begun.
Amid the controversy, Nora Fatehi said that she shot the song about three years ago for the original Kannada version of the film. She said she did not know about the Hindi lyrics and added that she does not fully understand the language.
At the same time, writer Rakib Alam said that he was only asked to translate the Kannada lyrics into Hindi and did not write the original song. He claimed that the makers were supposed to make changes, but they released it without corrections.
The film KD: The Devil is scheduled to release in April 2026. Due to the ongoing controversy and legal issues, there are concerns that the film’s promotion and release could be affected. Authorities are continuing their investigation.
