New Marriage Rule : You Cannot Get Married Without The Permission Of Your Parents : A historic proposal has been made in the Gujarat Assembly regarding marriage registration. No one can get married without the permission of the father and mother, that is, the permission of the father and mother is mandatory before marriage. No young man or woman can leave home and marry on their own accord. The government has proposed to amend the Marriage Registration Act.
Once implemented, marriage laws in Gujarat will be completely changed. The Gujarat government today formally proposed to amend the Marriage Registration Act, 44. Under the proposal, couples will have to file a formal declaration stating whether they have informed their parents about the marriage or not.
They will also have to provide Aadhaar cards, permanent addresses and mobile numbers of both the parents. Apart from this, after the Assistant Registrar verifies these documents, the government will send an official notification to the parents electronically or physically within 10 days. The entire process will be shifted from paper records to a central online portal maintained by the state government. After all the work is done, permission for marriage will be given. All these processes will take at least 30 days. However, it has been made a mandatory part of the legal process for marriage registration. Before finalizing these changes, the government has given 30 days to know the views and objections of the public.
