‘Sarke Chunar’ Row: Nora Fatehi Accepts Mistake, Promises Support for Orphan Girls
Nora Fatehi Apologises in ‘Sarke Chunar’ Controversy Before Women’s Commission: Bollywood actress and dancer Nora Fatehi appeared before the National Commission for Women in connection with the controversy surrounding the song Sarke Chunar from the film KD The Devil. The actress submitted a written apology to the Commission, admitting that the controversial lyrics had unintentionally hurt public sentiments. Nora clarified that she never intended to disrespect women or offend anyone and said that, as a responsible artist, she should have been more careful about the social impact of her work.
Speaking on the issue, Nora Fatehi said that she has accepted her mistake and decided to contribute positively to society by taking responsibility for the education expenses of orphan girls. Earlier, actor Sanjay Dutt, who also featured in the song, had appeared before the Women’s Commission on April 27 and apologized for the controversy. Sanjay Dutt assured the Commission that he would work towards women’s empowerment and social welfare and pledged financial support for the education of 50 tribal girls.
The controversy erupted after the release of Sarke Chunar, which featured Nora Fatehi and Sanjay Dutt dancing to lyrics that many groups claimed were insulting to the dignity and identity of women. Public outrage quickly spread on social media, forcing the makers of KD The Devil to remove the song and issue an apology. However, the matter escalated further after the Women’s Commission intervened. With both stars now admitting their mistakes and promising social initiatives, the controversy appears to be moving toward closure.
