Odisha Government Seeks Opinion on Renaming Areas per Odia Pronunciation
Odisha To Rename Areas As Per Odia Pronunciation, Seeks Public Opinion : Big update on the issue of correcting the English spelling of the names of various regions of the state according to Odia pronunciation. The state government has invited opinions on the proposed names. The state government has sought opinions from public representatives and the general public. The opinions have been sought on the basis of the proposal of a committee formed under the chairmanship of eminent literary genius Roy.
Emphasis has been given on getting feedback and suggestions within the next month. For example, ANUGOLA has been recommended for ANGUL, BALANGIR for BOLANGIR.
Similarly, BALESHWAR has been recommended for BALASORE, BARAGADA for BARAGARH, KATAKA for CUTTACK, DEBAGADA for DEOGARH, while BRAHMAPUR has been recommended instead of BERHAMPUR, KANDHAMAL has been recommended instead of KHONDMAL, KENDRAPADA, AUL and AALI have been recommended for KENDRAPARA.

Similarly, the state government has recommended REDHAKHOL for KEONJHAR-KENDUJHAR, KHORDA-KHORDHA, JEYPORE-JAYAPUR and RAIRAKHOL. Opinions have been sought on this. Public representatives and the public can send their opinions and well-considered suggestions on these proposals within one month from today through a letter to the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, Lok Seva Bhawan, Bhubaneswar-751001. Similarly, the state government has requested to send them through e-mail isbdr-rev.od@od.gov.in or revsec.od@od.gov.in .
