Voting begins for Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections 2026: Voting for the Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections 2026 started at 7 am across the state. By 9 am, 17.69% voter turnout was recorded, while Chennai reported 16.51%. People will be able to vote until 6 pm.
Many leaders and celebrities cast their votes and appealed to people to participate. Rajinikanth and Dhanush voted in Chennai. P. Chidambaram also cast his vote and spoke about the Constitution. Narendra Modi and Khushboo Sundar urged people, especially youth and women, to vote in large numbers.
The election is mainly a contest between DMK and AIADMK alliances. Voting is being held in a single phase, and counting will take place on May 4. More than 1.4 lakh police personnel have been deployed to ensure peaceful voting across the state.
