Monsoon Session 2026: Parliament to Meet from July 20 to August 13
Parliament’s Monsoon Session to Begin on July 20: The Monsoon Session of Parliament will begin on July 20, 2026, and continue until August 13, 2026. Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said President Droupadi Murmu has approved the session. The government is expected to discuss important national issues and introduce several key bills.
The session is likely to be heated, as the opposition may raise issues such as the alleged theft of offerings at the Ram Mandir and paper leaks in various examinations.
Last year’s Monsoon Session was held from July 21 to August 21, 2025, lasting 32 days. During that session, Parliament passed 15 bills. This year’s session will last 24 days, making it shorter.
The session will also be the first after major political changes. In the Trinamool Congress (TMC), 20 of its 28 Lok Sabha MPs have rebelled and are supporting the BJP-led NDA. In Shiv Sena (UBT), 6 of its 9 Lok Sabha MPs have joined Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla is yet to decide whether these rebel groups will be recognised as separate factions.
In the Rajya Sabha, the NDA has also increased its strength after recent elections. The session is expected to be important for both the NDA and the INDIA bloc. Reports say the government may reintroduce the Constitution Amendment Bill, but there is no official confirmation.
