Road Accident Victims Will Get Free Treatment, Benefits Will Be Available For 7 Days : The Government of India is implementing the ‘Pradhan Mantri Rahat’ scheme to provide immediate and free treatment to the victims of road accidents. For the successful implementation of this scheme, the Odisha Police Crime Branch has issued special instructions to all the District Superintendents of Police and DCPs. Under this scheme, every victim of an accident will be provided cashless treatment up to a maximum of Rs 1.5 lakh.
As per the directions of the State Chief Secretary and Director General of Police, the police have been asked to verify and approve the data on the E-DR platform within 24 hours in case of minor injuries and 48 hours in case of serious injuries. If the accident occurs in any other police station area, then the jurisdictional area has been changed within 3 hours.
Under the PM RAHAT scheme, the victim will be entitled to cashless treatment of up to Rs 1.5 lakh for 7 days from the date of the road accident. In non-life threatening cases, stabilization treatment will be provided for up to 24 hours and in life threatening cases, stabilization treatment will be provided for up to 48 hours.
Cashless Treatment: Medical benefits will be available for a maximum of 7 days from the date of the accident.
Timeline: The injured person must be admitted to the hospital within 24 hours of the accident.
Police Preparation: A DSP-level officer will be appointed as the nodal officer in each district.
Preventing Fraud: CCTV and toll data will be used to prevent fraud in the name of medical treatment.
Dashboard Monitoring: A special CCTNS dashboard is being developed by the State Crime Records Bureau to monitor this entire process.
The main objective of this scheme is to provide timely treatment to accident victims. The Crime Branch has informed that strict action will be taken if any negligence is shown in this regard.
