SC Collegium recommends Justice Krushna Ram Mohapatra as Chief Justice of the Chhattisgarh HC

SC Collegium recommends Justice Krushna Ram Mohapatra as Chief Justice of the Chhattisgarh HC: The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the appointment of Chief Justices at four High Courts. The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended Justice Krushna Ram Mohapatra of the Orissa High Court for appointment as the Chief Justice of the Chhattisgarh High Court. The recommendation was made at the Collegium meeting held on August 6, 2026. The statement was released by the Supreme Court on August 31.

Justice Krushna Ram Mohapatra has been recommended for the post consequent upon the retirement of the incumbent Chief Justice of the Chhattisgarh High Court on September 4, 2026. Justice Mohapatra was elevated as a judge of the Orissa High Court on April 17, 2015. He had enrolled as an advocate with the Orissa State Bar Council on February 7, 1988, and has over two decades of experience in various branches of law, including civil, criminal, service and constitutional matters. Justice Mohapatra has also served as Additional Standing Counsel for the State and the Odisha Public Service Commission before his elevation to the High Court bench. Geographic Reference. If the recommendation is approved, Justice Mohapatra will take charge as the Chief Justice of the Chhattisgarh High Court.

The Supreme Court Collegium on Monday(August 31, 2026) recommended Chhattisgarh High Court Judge, Justice Sanjay K. Agarwal, for appointment as the Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court.

The second recommendation is regarding the appointment of Justice Alpesh Yeshvant Kogje, presently serving as a Judge of the Gujarat High Court, to be the Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court.

Lastly, the collegium recommended Justice Pushpendra Singh Bhati, presently serving as a Judge of the Rajasthan High Court, to be appointed as Chief Justice of the Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court.
