Shah Rukh Khan Brings Back Baadshah Memories With a Cryptic Caption for King’s New Poster

Shah Rukh Khan’s King Poster Sparks Baadshah Memories

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has fuelled excitement among fans and given them another reason to talk about his upcoming action saga- King. On Tuesday, the makers unveiled a fresh poster of the action thriller, pairing the reveal with a line that appears to draw inspiration from one of the superstar’s popular films.

The new poster has added to the excitement surrounding the December release, with its caption sparking interest among fans familiar with SRK’s filmography.

The makers shared the poster with the words, “Qaatil Nahi… Aashiq Hai…#KING. In cinemas 24.12.2026.”

The line has a familiar ring to it. It echoes the lyrics “Aashiq hoon main, kaatil bhi hoon” from the title track of SRK’s 1999 film Baadshah.

The latest caption appears to play on that connection, blending the actor’s romantic image with the darker personality of his upcoming character.

Notably, the makers had previously introduced Shah Rukh’s character through a title-reveal video shared on Instagram in November last year. The actor announced his arrival with the dialogue, “Sau deshon mein badnaam, duniya ne diya sirf ek hi naam – KING.”

The introduction established the film’s intense mood and offered a glimpse of the formidable character SRK will portray.

Earlier, at a fan meet in Mumbai, Shah Rukh described his character as a dark, grey and ruthless killer, written with considerable care by Siddharth Anand and Sujoy Ghosh. He made it clear that the character is evil and not someone audiences should look up to.

The superstar also discussed his approach to choosing roles across genres, from romance and comedy to darker characters. He explained that he now focuses on one major film every one or two years, allowing him to devote sufficient time to each project and avoid disappointing his audience.

Directed by Siddharth Anand, King features Deepika Padukone, Suhana Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Rani Mukerji, Arshad Warsi, Jaideep Ahlawat, Raghav Juyal, Anil Kapoor and Jackie Shroff.

Produced by Red Chillies Entertainment and Marflix Pictures, King is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on December 24, 2026.
