India Suffers Setback as Shreyanka Patil Misses T20 World Cup

Shreyanka Patil Out of T20 World Cup 2026, Replacement Named: India have suffered a setback in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 as Shreyanka Patil has been ruled out of the tournament due to an ankle injury. The injury happened during India’s match against the Netherlands while she was trying to stop a ball in the final over of the powerplay.

India has played two matches so far, winning both against Pakistan and the Netherlands under captain Harmanpreet Kaur. Shreyanka’s absence is a big loss as she is an important bowler, fielder, and lower-order batter.

Prema Rawat Named as Replacement: Prema Rawat has been added to the squad as Shreyanka’s replacement. She is a 24-year-old uncapped leg-spinner from Uttarakhand. She has performed well in domestic cricket and the Women’s Premier League.

Team Selection Ahead of South Africa Clash: India now has options in the squad, including Radha Yadav and Prema Rawat, for the playing XI. The team will face South Africa in their next match at Old Trafford on June 21, which is an important game in the group stage. India currently has four points from two wins, and another victory will strengthen their position in the tournament.
