Sita Navami 2026 : When is Sita Navami on April 24 or 25? According to the calendar, the ninth day of the Shukla Paksha (waxing moon) of the month of Vaishakha holds special spiritual significance. We celebrate this day as Sita Navami or Janaki Jayanti. According to religious beliefs, on this sacred date in Treta Yuga, King Janak of Mithila found Mother Sita while plowing the land. This year, the Navami Tithi of the Shukla Paksha (waxing moon phase) of Vaishakha month begins on April 24, 2026, at 7:21 PM. This Tithi will end the next day, April 25, 2026, at 6:27 PM. According to the scriptures, fasts and festivals are calculated from the Udayatithi, i.e., the date at sunrise. Since the Navami Tithi will be present at sunrise on April 25, this year, Sita Navami will be celebrated on Saturday, April 25.

Auspicious midday time for Sita Navami
Mother Sita appeared at noon, so it is considered best to worship her during the afternoon. The most auspicious time for worship on April 25th will begin at 10:58 am and last until 1:34 pm. Devotees will have approximately 2 hours and 36 minutes for worship. Worship and chanting mantras performed during this special time yield many times greater results.

Worship method of Sita Navami
On Sita Navami, one should wake up during the Brahma Muhurta and bathe in a holy river or at home, mixing Ganga water with it. After this, take a vow to observe the fast and set up a platform in the north-east corner of the house. Spread a red cloth on it and place an idol or picture of Lord Rama and Mother Sita. Offer Mother Sita the items of marital bliss such as vermillion, bindi, bangles, and a red scarf. During the puja, chant the mantra Om Shri Sitaye Namah or Shri Janaki Ramabhyam Namah continuously. Offering sweets made with pure ghee or saffron rice to the Mother Goddess is very fruitful. Perform aarti again in the evening and break the fast the next day on Dashami Tithi.
