Ishan Kishan Stars in India’s Super-8 Qualification Win
T20 World Cup 2026: India Wins by 61 Runs Against Pakistan: In a high-voltage clash of the T20 World Cup 2026, India delivered a commanding performance to defeat Pakistan by 61 runs and secure their place in the Super-8 stage.
Batting first, India posted 175 for 7 — their highest-ever total against Pakistan in T20 World Cup history. The innings was powered by a scintillating knock from Ishan Kishan, who smashed 77 runs off 40 balls, including 10 fours and 3 sixes. He reached his half-century in just 27 deliveries and stitched together an 87-run partnership with Tilak Varma, stabilizing the innings after an early setback.
India had a shaky start as Abhishek Sharma was dismissed for a duck in the first over. However, Kishan’s counterattack shifted momentum. Captain Suryakumar Yadav contributed 32 runs, while Shivam Dube added a quick 27 off 17 balls. Rinku Singh remained unbeaten on 11 from just 4 balls to push India to a competitive total.
For Pakistan, Saim Ayub was the standout bowler, claiming 3 wickets for 25 runs.
Chasing 176, Pakistan’s innings unraveled early. Hardik Pandya struck in the first over to remove Sahibzada Farhan for a duck. Jasprit Bumrah then delivered a decisive double blow, dismissing Saim Ayub (6) and captain Salman Agha (4). Babar Azam continued his lean patch, falling for 5.
At 34 for 4, Pakistan were in deep trouble. Usman Khan offered resistance with a fighting 44 off 34 balls, but lacked support from the other end. Mohammad Nawaz (4) and Faheem Ashraf (10) failed to build partnerships, and Pakistan were eventually bowled out for 114.
India’s disciplined bowling attack ensured there was no comeback, sealing a comprehensive 61-run victory and confirming their qualification for the Super-8 stage of the tournament.
