Kolkata Knight Riders Beats Delhi Capitals by 8 Wickets
The 51st match of Indian Premier League 2026 saw Kolkata Knight Riders register a commanding 8-wicket victory over Delhi Capitals to keep their playoff hopes alive. The win marked Kolkata’s fourth consecutive victory of the season and lifted the team to seventh place in the points table. Chasing a target of 143, Kolkata comfortably reached the total in just 14.2 overs thanks to a sensational century from opener Finn Allen.
After winning the toss, Kolkata opted to bowl first and managed to restrict Delhi Capitals to 142 for 8. Delhi got off to a decent start with KL Rahul and Pathum Nissanka adding 49 runs for the opening wicket. Rahul scored 23 before getting dismissed, while the middle order collapsed under pressure. Nitish Rana managed only 8 runs, Sameer Rizvi scored 3, and Tristan Stubbs was dismissed for just 2. Nissanka played a fighting knock of 50 runs off 29 balls, while Ashutosh Sharma contributed 39 runs. For Kolkata, Kartik Tyagi and Anukul Roy picked up two wickets each, while Vaibhav Arora, Cameron Green, and Sunil Narine chipped in with one wicket apiece.
In reply, Kolkata suffered early setbacks as Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi were dismissed cheaply. However, Finn Allen and Cameron Green completely dominated the Delhi bowlers with an unbeaten 116-run partnership for the third wicket. Allen produced a breathtaking innings of 100 not out from just 47 balls, smashing five fours and ten sixes. Green remained unbeaten on 33 as Kolkata sealed the match with ease. Delhi skipper Axar Patel claimed the only wicket during the chase.
