Teen kills mother for opposing gender change: A 17-year-old allegedly killed his mother following dispute over gender affirming surgery in Lucknow on Thursday. The minor was taken into custody and futher investigations are underway.
The shocking incident took place at an apartment near Rajendra Nagar under Naka Hindola police station limits. The accused has been identified as 17-year old class 8 student. According to police the minor had been living separately from her parents for the past 7 months. The minor, who identifies as female wanted to undergoing treatment related to gender transition. The issue had reportedly been a source of conflict within the family.
On Thursday the minor came to meet her mother. An alteration broke out after mother was allegedly trying to counsel her child against pursuing the procedure and advised medical and psychological intervention instead. After this the minor allegedly attacked mother with a pair of wrench, causing fatal head injuries leading her to death.

Later the minor informed the police about the incident. A police team reached the apartment and found the woman dead. Senior police officials and a forensic team inspected the spot and collected evidence. The body was sent for post-mortem. The minor was then taken into custody and being interrogated.
Police said the exact sequence of events is being established through forensic examination and further enquiry.
