Vijay Surprises Rivals, Hands Congress Tamil Nadu’s Lone Rajya Sabha Seat
Thalapathy Vijay’s Big Gift to Rahul Gandhi: Rajya Sabha Seat for Congress: TVK has decided to give its first Rajya Sabha seat in Tamil Nadu to the Congress. The move came after DMK announced its exit from the INDIA bloc, saying its workers were unhappy with the Congress after the Assembly election results.
Many TVK leaders wanted the Rajya Sabha seat to go to a party member, but Vijay chose to support the Congress instead. The Congress has nominated Praveen Chakravarty, a close associate of Vijay, as its candidate.
Political observers see Vijay’s decision as a sign of his strong ties with the Congress. Earlier, there were rumours of differences between the two parties after Vijay skipped the Kerala Chief Minister’s swearing-in ceremony. This move appears to send a clear message that TVK and Congress want to work together in the long run.
The DMK criticised the decision, accusing TVK of avoiding a direct fight with the BJP. DMK spokesperson Saravanan said TVK did not send one of its own members to the Rajya Sabha because it would have to take a clear stand against the BJP.
DMK’s exit is seen as a setback for the INDIA bloc. However, Congress leaders believe TVK could help fill the gap left by the DMK, though TVK has not officially joined the alliance yet.
