Imani Deya Smith, of The Lion King fame, was stabbed to death at the age of 25. She played the role of young Nala in The Lion King. According to a call to 911 on Sunday, Imani had been stabbed multiple times. The incident occurred on Sunday, December 21st. Her boyfriend, Jordan D. Jackson-Small, has been charged with Imani’s murder.
The child actress’s death left her family alone – Imani also has a 3-year-old son, who is living with his aunt after her death. She was the sole supporter of her family. Her parents and son are left alone after Imani’s passing. Relatives have even started a fundraiser for her.
Emani lived in her home in Edison, New Jersey. Police found her injured inside the home, suffering from multiple stab wounds. According to a report released by the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office on December 23, Emani was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, where she was pronounced dead. Officials said an investigation was launched immediately after the incident.
Boyfriend accused of murder
Reports say that on December 21st, at 9:18 a.m., police received a 911 call reporting a stabbing. Following an investigation, police arrested Imani’s 35-year-old boyfriend, Jordan D. Jackson-Small. He has been charged with first-degree murder, second-degree endangering the safety of a child, third-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, and fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon.
Variety reports that Smith and Jackson-Small knew each other, so this was not a sudden act of violence.
