14 Key Terms of US-Iran Peace Deal Revealed
US-Iran Peace Agreement: 14 Major Points Explained: The long-running tension between the US and Iran has reportedly ended after Donald Trump announced a peace agreement on June 14. The deal is expected to be signed on June 19, with representatives from both sides, including US Vice President JD Vance and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
The agreement will be implemented in three stages. In the first stage, all military actions will stop immediately, and the naval blockade on Iran will be lifted. Trump also said the Strait of Hormuz will reopen for global shipping.
Within 30 days of signing the MoU, the Strait of Hormuz is expected to be fully reopened. Iran will also receive $12 billion from its frozen assets. Half of the total $24 billion will be released early in the process.
Within 60 days, both sides will hold talks on Iran’s nuclear program. Iran will receive the remaining $12 billion, and wider discussions on sanctions and economic recovery will continue.
The reported 14-point agreement includes key terms such as ending military operations, lifting sanctions on oil and petrochemical exports, respecting Iran’s sovereignty, and establishing a monitoring system to ensure compliance. It also suggests limits on Iran’s nuclear activities, while excluding its missile program and regional alliances from negotiations.
Trump said the deal would bring peace to the region and restore oil flow through the Strait of Hormuz. Iran has described the agreement as a memorandum of understanding and claimed it marks a diplomatic success after long negotiations.
The agreement is expected to be formally signed in Geneva on June 19, though officials from both sides have not yet fully confirmed all details, and changes may still occur.
