Uttarakhand Charidham Yatra To Begin From April : The Uttarakhand Charidham Yatra is going to start from April 19, 2026. On this day, the doors of Gangotri and Yamunotri temples will open. The registration process for pilgrims began from March 6. The government is making arrangements to provide better facilities to the pilgrims. The government has already decided to ban mobile phones in the Charidham temples. Meanwhile, the Badrinath-Kedar Temple Committee has taken an important decision to prohibit non-Hindus from entering the temples. Non-Hindus will not be allowed to enter the Kedarnath and Badrinath temple complexes during the upcoming Charidham Yatra. The BKTC has also prohibited non-Hindus from entering 45 other temples under its jurisdiction.
The decision was taken at a budget meeting held at the temple committee office in Dehradun under the chairmanship of BKTC president Hemant Dwivedi. The committee is considering banning entry of non-Hindus into the Char Dham temple. He said that the decision will come into effect with the pilgrimage starting next month, and non-Hindus will no longer be able to enter the temple premises and the sanctum sanctorum. He had earlier said that the ban on entry of non-Hindus started from the time of Adi Shankaracharya.
In this meeting, the committee approved the estimated budget for the next financial year, taking into account the preparations for the Charidham Yatra. Out of the total budget of Rs 121 crore for the year 2026-27, Rs 57.5 crore has been allocated for Badrinath Dham and Rs 63.6 crore for Kedarnath Dham. According to the information, the doors of Kedarnath temple will open on April 22. While the doors of Badrinath temple will open on April 23, 2026. The doors of Gangotri and Yamunotri will also be opened on April 19 on the occasion of Akshaya Vriday.
