New Rules for Char Dham Yatra: No Phones, Entry of Non-Hindus Banned In 47 Temple
Char Dham Yatra 2026 to Begin on April 19: Entry of Non-Hindus Banned: The Char Dham Yatra will begin on April 19, 2026 with the opening of the temples of Gangotri Temple and Yamunotri Temple. The registration process for pilgrims started on March 6, and the government is preparing better facilities for devotees.
The Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee has taken an important decision ahead of the pilgrimage. Non-Hindus will not be allowed to enter the temple complexes of Kedarnath Temple and Badrinath Temple during the yatra. The rule will also apply to 45 other temples managed by the committee.
The decision was taken in a meeting held in Dehradun under the chairmanship of committee president Hemant Dwivedi. According to the committee, this rule will come into effect from the start of the pilgrimage.
The meeting also approved a ₹121 crore budget for 2026-27. Around ₹57.5 crore has been allocated for Badrinath Dham and ₹63.6 crore for Kedarnath Dham.
According to the schedule, Kedarnath Temple will open on April 22 and Badrinath Temple on April 23, 2026. The temples of Gangotri and Yamunotri will open on April 19 on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya, marking the beginning of the annual Char Dham pilgrimage.
