Vaibhav Suryavanshi Leads East Zone, Know Why
Vaibhav Suryavanshi Takes Charge of East Zone in Duleep Trophy: Young cricketer Vaibhav Suryavanshi has taken charge as captain of the East Zone team in the Duleep Trophy.
Vaibhav was named the team’s vice-captain before the tournament. He became captain after regular skipper Ishan Kishan left the field with a wrist injury while keeping wickets against Central Zone.
Kishan was treated by the physio and later had his wrist bandaged. Kumar Kushagra took over as wicketkeeper.
Vaibhav, who is only 15 years old, has played nine first-class matches so far. He has scored 193 runs and taken four wickets, with one half-century.
His appointment as vice-captain had earlier received criticism, but the selectors backed him. Now, he has an opportunity to lead East Zone in the absence of Kishan.
