Venezuela Earthquake: Trapped Man Rescued Alive After 8 Days: In a miraculous incident, a person was found alive after a powerful earthquake hit Venezuela on June 25. The man was rescued after eight days trapped beneath a collapsed basement early Thursday.
After a relentless 100-hour mission, Security Guard Hernan Alberto Gil Flores(43) was pulled out alive by the rescuers. The rescue was considered a small miracle, cutting through a week of tragedy. He was taken on a stretcher to an ambulance, where doctors checked his vitals. After being rescued, Gig Flores was supplied with food and water. Horrified, Gil Flores told rescuers not to tell his wife he was alive. As he feared, he might not survive until he got out. But the rescue teams were able to keep him alive for longer than the 48-to 72-hour threshold.
However, his wife, Gusbimar Gonzalez, did not give up. She said that when she found out her husband was alive, she saw ‘a ray of hope in the darkness’, she said. Teams carrying flags around the world cheered for this great rescue.
