What lord Ganesha teaches us?: Ganesh utsav is celebrated on the Chaturthi(fourth day) of the Shukla Paksha of the Bhadrapada month. According to Hindu beliefs, lord Ganesha is worshipped first in any auspicious work because he is also known as Pratham Pujya and Vighnaharta, the remover of obstacles. Lovingly people also call him ‘Bappa’.

Mushak: Bappa has choosen the mouse or mushak as his vehicle, meaning that humans should learn to control their desires. Mouse represents restless human mind, ego and desires that must be controlled by wisdom. Only then people can achieve success in life.
Snake around belly: The presence of snake around Ganesha’s waist underscores the need for balance between our material desires and spiritual growth. The snake belt also symbolizes mastery over kundalini, the dominant spiritual energy.
