Yogi Adityanath Announces Toll-Free Travel on Ganga Expressway for 15 Days: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has made a significant announcement that will provide relief to the public. The state government has decided to waive toll charges for the first 15 days following the opening of the Ganga Expressway. This move is aimed at allowing the public to experience the state-of-the-art expressway without having to pay any toll fees. The decision, seen as a major step toward improving connectivity and fostering development in Uttar Pradesh, will come into effect once the expressway officially begins its commercial operations.
The Ganga Expressway, a 594-kilometer-long infrastructure project, connects 12 districts in Uttar Pradesh, stretching from Meerut to Prayagraj. The project is being regarded as one of the largest and most modern developments in the state. The Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) has instructed the private companies managing toll collection to halt charges for the first 15 days after the expressway’s Commercial Operation Date (COD), which follows certification from an independent engineer confirming its readiness for public use.
Though the toll-free decision is expected to result in some loss of revenue for the private companies involved, these losses will be compensated by the government as per the terms of the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) agreement. Despite the toll exemption, the government has assured that the expressway’s maintenance, road quality, and passenger amenities will remain fully operational during this period, ensuring a safe and efficient experience for travelers.
