5 Khaja godown sealed ahead of festive season: The food safety officials on Tuesday carried out raids ahead of festive season. At least 5 Khaja manufacturing units were sealed for violating food safety norms in Puri.
A joint team of police and Food Safety officials along with the district administration carried out inspections at several Khaja manufacturing units. The raid was carried out at Kalikadevi Sahi near kakudikhai chhak, Dolamandap Sahi near the Shree Jagannath Temple. Officials seized sugar syrup, eight domestic LPG cylinders, and around four quintals of khaja. With this 5 khaja manufacturing units were reportedly sealed for alleged violations of food safety norms, while 2 push carts were also seized during the raid.

Raids are continuing across the town to ensure sweets sold to devotees and visitors meet safety standards. Festive demand for Khaja, a traditional sweet closely linked to Lord Jagannath’s temple rituals, reaching peak prompted authorities to tighten checks on its preparation and sale.
