Padma Awards announced, know who will receive the honour
Awards Announced For Republic Day : 75-year-old Anke Gowda has over 20 lakh books in his house. This man of extraordinary intellect, who lives in Heralahalli village in Karnataka, has dedicated his entire life to such a unique task. When he was 20 years old and working as a bus conductor, he did his post-graduate studies in Kannada literature. Inspired by his professor Anantharamu, he started a book collection campaign and took it as his life’s mission. Till date, he has not tired or stopped. He has not looked back. In the last 50 years, he has collected 2 million books. This includes 5 lakh rare foreign books, 5 thousand multilingual dictionaries, extremely rare manuscripts from 1832, etc.
He has invested his livelihood in this and has sold his house in Mahesur and moved to his village. This is evidence of his intense addiction. He is leading a normal life inside this library. He eats, sleeps and even breathes with those books! Fortunately, his wife Vijayalakshmi and son Sagar have also been fully supporting him in this mission.
The bookshelves have more than 20 Indian and foreign language books. They are related to literature, culture, science, mythology, philosophy, history and technology. Similarly, the Union Home Ministry has announced medals for distinguished service in the fields of police, firefighting, home defence and prison reform. 982 people from all over the country will get the Police Seva Padak. Out of the 125 people, 101 will be awarded the President’s Distinguished Service Medal and 756 will be awarded the Medal for Distinguished Service.
A total of 17 police personnel from the state have been announced to receive various medals. Out of them, four will be awarded the Medal for Bravery, two will be awarded the President’s Distinguished Service Medal and 11 others will be awarded the Medal for Dedication. ADG Pratya Mohanty and DCP Prafulla Kumar Singh will receive the President’s Distinguished Service Medal.
Similarly, DSP Atul Krishna Das, ASI Purnachandra Pradhan, Constable Ghanashyam Sahu and Constable Thabir Majhi will be given the Bravery Award. Crime Branch IG Sarthak Sarangi, Commandant Hari Prasad Tamang, Additional SP Shuv Narayan Muduli, DSP Pradeep Kumar Aind, DSP Pranati Roy, Commandant Ashok Kumar Mohanty, Inspector Arun Kumar Nayak, Inspector Mohammed Hafiz, Havildar Lata Nayak Havildar, ASI Nigma Nanda Mohapatra, Inspector Laxmi Narayan Muduli will be given the Dedicated Service Medal.

Commendable Service Award, 4 to receive Bravery Award, 4 to receive Fire Service Award, 1 to receive President’s Distinguished Service Award, 3 to receive President’s Distinguished Service Award, 1 to receive Home Guard Commendable Service Award , 2 to receive Commendable Service Award, 1 to receive President’s Distinguished Service Award, 1 to receive Commendable Service Award in the field of Correctional Services
