IMD Forecasts 5 Days of Stormy Weather Across Multiple States
India Meteorological Department Warns of Rain, Thunderstorms Across 17 States: The India Meteorological Department has issued a weather alert for nearly 17 states across north and east India, forecasting rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds over the next five days. The sudden change is being driven by strong westerly winds, leading to an unexpected dip in temperatures just before the peak summer season.
States including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, and West Bengal are likely to witness increased rainfall activity in the next 48 hours, along with thunderstorms and winds reaching speeds of 30–40 kmph. Meanwhile, light to moderate rainfall has been predicted in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha.
The weather shift has already caused a drop of 4–6°C in maximum temperatures across several regions. In Delhi NCR, residents experienced an unusual chill on Saturday morning following rainfall.
However, the unseasonal weather has raised concerns among farmers, especially those cultivating wheat and mustard. Experts warn that strong winds and rain during March could damage crops at a crucial stage, potentially affecting yields.
