Death Caused by Chinese Manja Will Be Treated as Murder: CM Yogi Adityanath
Chinese Manja Banned in UP, Deaths to Be Booked as Murder: CM Yogi: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday issued strict directions stating that any death caused by Chinese manja (thread) will be treated as murder, and a murder case will be registered in such incidents. He also ordered stringent legal action against those involved in the storage, sale, or supply of the banned Chinese thread.
The Chief Minister directed officials to launch a special statewide अभियान (campaign) to curb the menace and dismantle the entire supply network of Chinese manja. He further instructed that the action taken under this campaign must be reviewed daily to ensure effective enforcement.
The directions come in the wake of the tragic death of Shoaib (34), a resident of Bazarkhala, whose neck was slit by a Chinese manja on Wednesday. Shoaib reportedly succumbed to severe bleeding after the incident. Taking cognizance of the case, CM Yogi instructed the concerned officials to take all necessary steps to prevent such incidents in the future.
The Chief Minister made it clear that death caused by Chinese thread would be considered murder, and those responsible would face strict legal consequences without any leniency.
Raising serious concerns, CM Yogi questioned officials over the continued availability of Chinese manja despite a complete ban.
“How is Chinese manja being sold when it is completely banned? This is a matter of great concern,” he said.
He emphasized that the sale of Chinese manja is not only a punishable offence but also a serious threat to public safety, especially to children, pedestrians, animals, and birds.
“The state will be made completely free of Chinese manja. There will be no compromise with public safety under any circumstances,” the Chief Minister asserted.
