Big Decision Of Bihar Govt , Women Will Get 2nd Installment Of Jeevika Rs 20,000 : The Chief Minister’s Women Employment Scheme, which is being implemented in Bihar with the aim of making women self-reliant, has now started showing tangible results on the ground. A large number of women have started small enterprises and established a source of income. A recent survey has indicated that the benefits of the scheme are gradually becoming apparent at a large scale. In this context, the state government’s partner organisation – JEEViKA – has surveyed around 4 lakh women till date. Under the scheme, these women were provided with an initial assistance of Rs 10,000 each. Based on the survey, an assessment was done to determine how many women have used this amount to start self-employment ventures and to assess their current status.
According to the report, the Bihar government is giving priority to those women who have successfully used the initial funds to establish their businesses and effectively steered them towards growth. Meanwhile, initial data from the survey indicates that about 70 percent of the beneficiary women have successfully started their own businesses in some way or the other. This figure serves as an indication of the success of the scheme. Preparations are underway to provide the second installment of Rs. 20,000 soon to those women whose businesses are performing well.
Under this scheme, financial assistance is provided to women in phases. The first installment of Rs. 10,000 has already been provided. The second installment will be Rs. 20,000, for which the beneficiary will also have to contribute partially. Later, the third and fourth installments will be of Rs. 40,000 and Rs. 80,000 respectively. In the final phase, assistance of Rs. 60,000 will be provided, for which the beneficiary will not have to contribute anything. In addition, there is a provision to provide one-time assistance of up to Rs. 200,000 in special circumstances.
The survey also revealed that women have started various types of employment ventures based on their own convenience and local needs. The largest number of women have opted for animal husbandry, with cow husbandry, goat farming and poultry farming being the most prominent options. In addition, a large number of small businesses such as fruit and vegetable stalls, grocery shops, tailoring and embroidery units, tea and snack stalls and beauty parlours have also been established. The scheme is not limited to financial assistance alone; rather, it is part of a broader initiative to empower women to become self-reliant. The government’s objective is to enable as many women as possible to stand on their own feet and contribute to their family income. As soon as the survey work is completed, the next installment will be disbursed to the eligible beneficiaries, thereby further strengthening their businesses.
