Big Decision In Odisha Aviation Sector, 10 New Routes Approved : Big decision in Odisha aviation sector. Approval for 10 new routes. Many important decisions have been taken to further strengthen the aviation sector of the state in the 5th high-level committee meeting held under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary. The committee has approved 10 new routes proposed by Star Air. This includes direct flights from Jharsuguda to Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Pune and Bhubaneswar to major cities like Tirupati and Surat. It has been decided to hold joint discussions with the Airports Authority of India (AAI) for the proposed Shri Jagannath International Airport in Puri. The aim is to expedite the expansion work of Jharsuguda and Rourkela airports and complete the land transfer process by May 2026.
The meeting decided to review the Odisha Civil Aviation Policy 2022 and bring out its second version . Along with this, the extension of the financial assistance period given to airlines is also being considered. The committee has directed to prepare a proposal to reduce VAT on aviation fuel to promote aviation in the state. Apart from this, emphasis has also been given to the development of ‘Biju Patnaik Aviation Center’ at Birsal, Dhenkanal and the operationalization of Malkangiri Airport. These steps are expected to bring a big change in Odisha’s tourism and economy.
