Odisha Govt Hikes Dearness Allowance By 5%: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has increased the dearness allowance by 5 percent for government employees of the state. With this, the total dearness allowance of government employees has increased from 257 percent to 262 percent.
The Chief Minister has approved the proposal for this dearness allowance. This increased dearness allowance will be effective from January 1, 2026. It is reported that it will be received with the salary of the month of July. Arrears for the period from February 2026 to June 2026 will be disbursed after the drawal of July’s salary. According to an Office Memorandum issued by the Finance Department of the Odisha government, the additional 5% DA will be released in favour of state government employees drawing pay in pre-revised scales under ORSP Rules, 2008.
The hike is in line with the Central Government’s decision and has been approved considering the state’s financial resources and fiscal targets. The enhanced Dearness Allowance will be applicable to state government employees, employees of aided educational institutions, teaching and non-teaching staff of universities, subordinate judicial officers, work-charged employees and job contract workers.
Thousands of government employees and pensioners will directly benefit from this. With the rising prices of goods and the increasing cost of living, the government’s announcement has provided financial relief to employees.
