BCCI Announces Jasprit Bumrah’s Replacement for Sri Lanka Tests
BCCI Replaces Injured Bumrah in India’s Test Squad: The BCCI has named Aquib Nabi as a replacement for Jasprit Bumrah in India’s Test squad for the Sri Lanka tour, which begins on August 15.
Bumrah has been ruled out of the Test series as he is yet to recover fully from the left-knee injury he suffered during the ODI series against England.
This is Aquib Nabi’s first call-up to the senior Indian team. The 29-year-old fast bowler from Jammu & Kashmir impressed in domestic cricket, taking 104 wickets over the last two Ranji Trophy seasons, including 60 wickets in the 2025–26 season. He also picked up six wickets during India A’s recent tour of Sri Lanka.
In first-class cricket, Nabi has played 43 matches, taking 162 wickets at an average of 18.63. He has also scored 999 runs, including two half-centuries.
