India needed a win against Australia in their final Pool E match to advance in semi-finals. But Australia needed just a draw to progress. Despite an unbeaten run in the first phase, India’s 0–2 defeat to the Netherlands in the second phase made their path to the next round difficult. A win was crucial in this match, but India could not break the deadlock in the allotted 60 minutes.
