Nitin Nabin summons 3 BJP MPs: Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) National President Nitin Nabin on Saturday has reprimanded and summoned three senior MPs of the party. The development takes place after their visit to the mourning ceremony of former congress leader Sajjan Kumar, who was convicted in a 1984 anti-Sikh riot case.
According to the information received, Nitin Nabin summoned Kamaljit Sehrawat, Ramveer Bidhuri and Yogendra Chandolia. Lawyer HS Phulka, who has been fighting for justice for the Sikh riot victims for a long time, also expressed displeasure. Posting on X, Nitin wrote, ‘I strongly condemn the visit of three BJP MPs – Kamaljit Sehrawat, Ramveer Singh Bidhuri and Yogendra Chandolia – to the house of assassin Sajjan Kumar to mourn his death. Sympathy should go to the victims and their families – many of whom are still living through the horrors of those days. I demand the boycott of these three MPs.’
The BJP is currently focused on the upcoming assembly elections, including the Punjab polls. With the Punjab Assembly elections approaching, the association of senior BJP leaders with Sajjan Kumar and attending his funeral may impact on the party’s image. Therefore, it is believed that Nitin Nabin has taken this issue into consideration and strongly questioned the three senior leaders.
A high-level meeting was chaired by the national president Nitin Nabin at the party headquarters on Saturday. The main agenda of this meeting was to brainstorm on the issues related to the youth of the country, to prepare a perfect electoral and organizational strategy to further strengthen the dialogue and communication with them. Many veteran leaders and ministers of the party were present in the meeting.
