Single board for class 10 and 12: The Odisha government non Monday announced to merge the secondary and higher secondary curriculum and examinations under a single board. The government has not yet announced when the new system will be implemented.
The developments were announced by School and Mass Education Secretary Dr N. Thirumala Naik during the 44th foundation day celebration of the Council of Higher Secondary Education. Minister Nayak said having one board will not create problems in preparing the syllabus or conducting examinations. The department is now working on the draft law required for the merger.’
Meanwhile, the government is also planning to spend around Rs 10 crore on education-related initiatives. Digital learning and skill development will be given more focus as part of the plans. The government is also working on providing free coaching for students preparing for IIT and NEET examinations. The aim is to provide students with better learning opportunities and support them in competitive examinations.
The proposed board merger is expected to bring the Class 10 and Class 12 examination systems under one authority while keeping the existing examination pattern unchanged. The proposed reforms are aimed at streamlining the state’s secondary and higher secondary education system while expanding access to mother-tongue education, open schooling and digital learning.
