Free Stock Market Training For Odisha Students: The Odisha Higher Education Department has launched an initiative to provide free stock market training to college students across the state. The initiative aims to enhance their skills and improve employment opportunities in the financial sector.

According to a notification issued by the department, the programme will be available to students pursuing B.Com, BBA, BMS, Economics, Commerce, MBA and M.Com courses. As part of the initiative, eligible students will also be offered a 30-hour professional certificate course in mutual funds at free of cost. The programme will be implemented in collaboration with the National Stock Exchange of India Ltd. (NSEIL) under the National Skill Development Mission.

In the first phase, the scheme will be launched in 97 selected colleges and universities located within a 100-km radius of major cities including Bhubaneswar, Berhampur, Bhadrak, Dhenkanal, Jeypore, Kendrapara, Keonjhar, Rourkela and Sambalpur. Under the programme, students will receive free training in the stock market, mutual funds, insurance, banking and financial transactions.

To ensure smooth implementation, every participating university and college has been directed to appoint a nodal officer, preferably a faculty member from the Commerce, Management or Economics department. The Higher Education Department issued the implementation guidelines on July 15, 2026, and asked vice-chancellors and college principals across the state to take immediate steps to roll out the programme.
