The Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) men’s selection committee has made significant changes to the Indian squad for the upcoming three-match T20 International series against Afghanistan and the 2026 Asian Games. After Harshit’s exit, 27-year-old Vidarbha fast bowler Yash Thakur has been included in the team as his replacement.
Harshit Rana was undergoing rehabilitation at the BCCI Center of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru and his recovery was going well. However, he suffered a rectus femoris (thigh muscle) strain while bowling during a match simulation on 7 September. This injury has ruled him out of the upcoming tournaments.
