Sudhakar Malli appointed as new Executive Director of RBI: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has undergone a major reshuffle. The central bank recently appointed Sudhakar Malli as its new Executive Director (ED). His appointment is effective October 1, 2026. He will now oversee the central bank’s oversight functions.

According to RBI, before becoming ED, Sudhakar Malli was working as Chief General Manager-in-charge in the Department of Supervision. This department monitors all banks and other financial institutions affiliated with the central bank and ensures their compliance with regulations. This oversight will now fall to Sudhakar Malli.

Sudhakar Malli holds a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering. He is also a Certified Associate of CAIIB. He has nearly three decades of experience in the central banking sector. He has worked in various roles related to the supervision of banks, NBFCs, and cooperative banks for over 20 years. He also has nearly five years of supervisory experience abroad. He also worked in the Currency Management Department of the RBI.

Given his extensive experience in banking and financial institution oversight, his new role is considered crucial. His experience can be used to improve bank oversight, risk management, and strengthen the financial system.
