Imagine walking on gold while jewellery buyers around the world worry about its rising price! Dubai is gearing up to turn this unusual idea into reality with a 24-carat gold walkway expected to open before the end of 2026. The proposed attraction promises a new experience for visitors in a city already famous for its thriving gold trade.
Dubai is gearing up to add another attraction to its famous gold trade. The proposed walkway will be located in Dubai Gold District, a major hub for gold and jewellery businesses.
According to Gulf Today, the walkway could open within the next two months. Rashid Al Harmoudi, Senior Director of the Commercial Sector at Dubai Gold District, said visitors would get to experience walking along a golden path.
The project is being promoted as the world’s first and longest gold walkway. However, its exact length, construction cost and the quantity of gold involved have yet to be revealed.
The golden pathway is part of Dubai Gold District’s strategy to attract more visitors and strengthen its position in the global gold and jewellery market.
The district is also planning a major gold and jewellery exhibition, aiming to make it the largest of its kind in the Middle East. The proposed walkway could add to the appeal for tourists and jewellery enthusiasts visiting the area.
The ambitious project comes as business activity in Dubai Gold District continues to expand.
Al Harmoudi said wholesale gold trading offices that began operating in the district had increased by 20% since the start of 2026. New outlets selling gold, jewellery, precious stones and luxury watches also recorded a 15% rise during the same period.
To accommodate the growing number of businesses, the district is expanding its office and retail spaces. Al Harmoudi expects the number of companies relocating there to increase by 10% to 20% over the coming year.
With a golden walkway in the pipeline and more businesses entering the district, Dubai is looking to strengthen its appeal as a global destination for gold trading, jewellery shopping and tourism.
