AgriStack ID not compulsory for paddy procurement registration: Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra on Sunday clarified that the digital identification will not be mandatory for the registration process. Farmers in Odisha can register for paddy procurement even without an AgriStack ID.

Krushna Chandra Patra said that a total of 5,093 farmers have so far registered for paddy procurement till August 9, of whom 3,108 have an AgriStack ID. AgriStack ID is not compulsory for farmers to register for paddy procurement. The Agristack ID issued by the Agriculture Department is required before collecting the paddy token. Farmers can also register their Agristack ID at the office during the registration process. If they submit the Record of Rights (ROR) of their land, the ID will be issued within two days.

The Minister also said there is no complication for sharecroppers. They can register by submitting the required documents. He assured that the government will procure paddy from all farmers. During the last Kharif season, the government procured 78 lakh metric tonnes of paddy, while 20 lakh metric tonnes were procured during the Rabi season.
