Annual Toll Passes Will Become More Expensive From April 1 : Important news for highway commuters. Traveling on national highways is going to become even more expensive from April 1. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is revising the annual toll pass and toll tax. NHAI has decided to increase the annual pass fee from Rs 3,000 to Rs 3,075. This new rate will be applicable for the financial year 2026-27.
However, this pass is for personal vehicles that have a valid or functional FASTag. Currently, the price of FASTag Annual Pass for personal vehicles is Rs 3,000. But from April 1, its price will be increased by 2.5% to Rs 3,075.
According to the new rules, this pass worth Rs 3075 will be valid for one year or after crossing the toll plaza 200 times. Whichever comes first will be applicable. Which means if you cross the toll plaza 200 times, the pass will expire. Even if the one-year period has not passed, it will still become invalid.
However, NHAI changes the toll rates every year from April 1. It is mainly based on (WPI) or wholesale inflation. Usually, the increase is between 3% and 5%, which is used for road maintenance and new projects. However, the government is planning to stop cash payments at toll plazas from April 1. Now, payments will be made only through FASTag and UPI.
