According to reports, two young women were walking near Balichandrapur Kaj when two drunken youths hit them on a bike. After this, they got down from the bike and misbehaved with the two young women. After the incident became public, there was anger among the locals. One of the youths was tied up and dragged on the road and beaten as much as he could.

The youth was tied with his hands and feet and hung from a bamboo pole. Medieval barbarity was seen in the sand. The police reached the spot after receiving the news, but the anger of the agitated people could not be calmed down. Finally, the police took the youth to the Capital Hospital in a serious condition. The doctor declared him dead there. The deceased was identified as Soumya Ranjan Swain of Maujpur village under Oltpur police station. He was working as a railway constable. Another youth who was with Soumya was Om Prakash Mohanty. The police have detained him and are interrogating him.

The question arises as to how people took the law into their own hands. If the youth had done something wrong, then how far is it right for the agitated people to beat him to death instead of arresting him and handing him over to the police? The DCP said that strict action will be taken against those who took the law into their own hands. The barbarity has crossed the limit here. The agitated people beat the youth to death before the police arrived. Such an incident has raised many questions for our civilized society.
