The court’s order comes days after the country’s food regulator FSSAI in its August 3 order directed Dabur to immediately discontinue the sale of several products carrying 100% claims.
Delhi HC stays FSSAI order banning Dabur selling its food products: Delhi High Court on Friday stayed an FSSAI order prohibiting Dabur from selling food products with 100 per cent claims. The interim relief keeps the prohibitory order suspended while the company challenges its basis and procedure.
Justice Amit Mahajan, while hearing Dabur’s petition challenging the regulator’s August 3 order, issued notices to the Centre, the FSSAI and other respondents, and stayed the operation of the prohibitory order until further proceedings. The court’s order comes days after the country’s food regulator FSSAI in its August 3 order directed Dabur to immediately discontinue the sale of several products carrying claims such as ‘100% Pure’, ‘100% Natural’ and ‘100% Organic’. The regulator argued that such claims could not be objectively verified and were likely to mislead consumers.
The order effectively stopped the company from selling products carrying the disputed claims. Following this, Dabur approached the Delhi High Court challenging the order.
