Delhi Summons Pakistani Envoy After Naval Warship Collision: India on Wednesday summoned Pakistan’s top diplomatic representative in New Delhi after a Pakistan Navy vessel collided with an Indian Navy warship in the North Arabian Sea. The Indian government described as an ‘unprofessional and unacceptable conduct’ of Pakistani naval units.
In a statement the ministry of external affairs said the incident took place in international waters and did not cause any major damage. The conduct of the Pakistani naval ship was in direct contravention of Article 10 of the 1991 Agreement between India and Pakistan governing advance notice of Military Exercises, Manoeuvres and Troops Movements. The incident took place on the evening of September 15, when the Indian warship was carrying out a routine surveillance mission in international waters. Pakistani vessel came at high speed, maneuvering in an unprofessional and unsafe manner, which led to a collision, sources said.
The MEA also said India’s Charge d’Affaires in Islamabad had been instructed to lodge a similar protest with Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
