France deploys minehunters in the Strait of Hormuz: Amid rising tensions in the Middle East and the security of Maritime trade, France has deployed its Mine Countermeasures Assets in the Strait of Hormuz. This aim is to make the Strait of Hormuz sea lanes fully safe and ensure the unhindered movement of ships. France says it is ready to work with its allies to restore normal navigation in the waterway.
In an ‘X’ post French President Emmanuel Macron said,‘ two minehunters, two frigates and a maritime patrol aircraft have been sent to the Strait of Hormuz. These resources are ready to contribute to restoring navigation and ensuring the safety of ships in the Strait of Hormuz, together with our allies.’

At the same time, Britain and France issued a joint statement and said that if needed, they can also deploy a Multinational Military Mission. Both countries reiterated their commitment to maintaining regional stability, international law, freedom of maritime navigation and respect for sovereignty.
