India defeated Zimbabwe by 90 runs in the second T20I, lead series 2-0: India defeated Zimbabwe by 90 runs in the second T20 match. With this, the Indian team has taken a 2-0 lead in the three-match series. The third and final T20 match of the series will be played in Harare on Sunday.
Under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer, the team managed to win the first T20I series after losing two consecutive series. Teams brilliant performance shook the Zimbabwean team. The team bowled out for 129 runs in 17.5 overs. Opener Brian Bennett top-scored for Zimbabwe with 32 off 19 balls (3 fours, 3 sixes), while Tadiwanashe Marumani contributed 24 runs and Ryan Burl contributed 20 runs. Apart from them, Brad Evans scored 19 runs, but the team’s middle order, including captain Sikandar Raza (0), was a complete flop and kept losing wickets at regular intervals.
Indian bowlers played stronger right from the beginning of the match. The team scored a target of 220 runs which proved to be challenging for Zimbabwe team. All-rounder Abhishek Sharma was India’s most successful bowler, taking 3 wickets for 17 runs in 2.5 overs. Debutants Yash Thakur and Prince Yadav also bowled brilliantly and took 2 wickets each. Apart from them, Ravi Bishnoi, Shivam Dubey and Tilak Verma had a 1-1 success. In the first T20 match of the series, the young batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi from India played an important role in helping Team India win by seven wickets by scoring a half-century off 18 balls.
