Big Relief for Poor Students: J&K Waives School and College Fees
J&K Government Announces Full Fee Waiver for AAY Students: The Jammu and Kashmir government has announced a full fee waiver for students from Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) families studying in government schools and government degree colleges.
Students of Classes 9 to 12 in government schools will not have to pay any school fees. Undergraduate students in government degree colleges will also get a full fee waiver from the first to the eighth semester. The order is effective immediately.
To receive this benefit, students must have a valid AAY ration card or other required documents.
The fee waiver is available only to students who are not already receiving any other government scholarship or fee assistance. However, fees charged by external examination boards or other statutory bodies must still be paid unless a separate exemption is announced.
School and college heads have been asked to verify students’ eligibility and keep proper records. The Education Department will monitor the scheme and work with the Finance Department to reimburse institutions.
