Maharatra MLC polls: Mahayuti wins 16 seats: Maharashtra Legislative Council election results are out. Mahayuti has won 16 out of 17 seats. The elections in these seats were held on June 18, recording an impressive average voter turnout of 99.02 per cent. However, Mahayuti candidates had won 6 seats unopposed before the polling process.
Counting was held on Monday for the June 18 elections to 11 seats in the state legislature’s Upper House. However, the only setback to the ruling coalition came in Nashik, where independent candidate and BJP rebel Gokul Geeta defeated Shiv Sena’s official candidate Narendra Darade. In the MLC elections, BJP contested on 11 seats, Shiv Sena on 4 seats, and NCP on 2 seats.
Those elected unopposed included BJP’s Arun Lakhani from Wardha-Chandrapur-Gadchiroli and Prajakt Tanpure from Ahilyanagar; NCP nominees Vikram Kakade from Pune and Aniket Tatkare from Raigad-Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg; and Shiv Sena candidates Ravindra Phatak from Thane and Dushyant Chaturvedi from Yavatmal.
