Martyr’s Family Will Get One Acre Of Land
Nitish Government’s Big Announcement; Deputy Chief Minister and Land Revenue Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha said that the state government is grateful to the families of the brave martyrs and paying tribute to them is our priority. The main objective of this initiative is to provide resources to the families of the martyrs to live a dignified life in their home districts.
The Nitish Kumar government of Bihar has taken a sensitive decision for the families of soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice in the service of the country. The Revenue and Land Reforms Department has made the process of allocating government land to the dependents of martyred soldiers more transparent. Deputy Chief Minister and Land Revenue Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha said that the state government is grateful to the families of the brave martyrs and it is our priority to honour them. The main objective of this step is to provide resources to the families of martyrs to live a dignified life in their home districts. Therefore, the department has issued new guidelines.
Who will get the benefit?
Not only the Army, the Bihar government will also provide this facility to other forces that play an important role during the war. These include the jawans of the Border Security Force, Bihar Military Police, Territorial Army, Central Reserve Police Force, Border Scouts, BRF, Lok Akhtar Seva, NCC, Home Guard and Assam Rifles etc.
Government regulations
As per the government guidelines, these facilities will be available to the dependent families of soldiers who have served for at least six months and died in action. The beneficiary should be a permanent resident of Bihar. Recommendation from the Naval, Military and Air Force Boards and a certificate of satisfactory service are required. The dependent should not have any previous personal residential land title. No annual holding tax will be levied from the family for the next five years after the sanction.
The DM has the right to distribute land.
District Magistrates will retain the power to allot land. This will only apply to government land in rural areas that is free from disputes. The department said that the land to be allotted should be free from land grants, burial grounds, cremation grounds, religious sites or any other legal disputes.
