T20 World Cup 2026 Begins Today with Grand Opening Ceremony at Wankhede: The much-awaited ICC T20 World Cup 2026 begins today with a grand opening ceremony and three exciting matches scheduled across different venues. Six teams, including cricketing giants India and Pakistan, will take the field on the very first day of the tournament.
The opening match of the tournament will be played between Pakistan and the Netherlands in Colombo. This will be followed by the second match of the day between West Indies and Scotland at Kolkata, starting at 3:00 PM. The third and most anticipated match will see India take on the USA at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, beginning at 7:00 PM.
Grand Opening Ceremony at Wankhede
Ahead of the India vs USA clash, a grand opening ceremony will be held at the Wankhede Stadium. The ceremony will begin at 6:00 PM, one hour before the match, and the same match tickets will be valid for entry to the opening ceremony.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially announced a star-studded lineup for the event. Renowned rapper Badshah will perform live, while popular dancer Nora Fatehi will add glamour with her performance. Celebrated sitar player Rishabh Sharma and legendary percussionist Sivamani will also perform, blending classical and modern music for the global audience.
Tournament Officially Launched
During the ceremony, ICC Chairman Jay Shah and former Indian captain Rohit Sharma will welcome the T20 World Cup trophy. They will be joined by 20 youth ambassadors, each representing one of the participating nations, to officially launch the tournament.

Teams and Groups
A total of 20 teams are participating in the T20 World Cup 2026, divided into four groups of five teams each. Teams from Group A and Group C will be in action today.
