Senior JD(U) leader and Bihar’s Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary stated that discussions are ongoing regarding Nitish Kumar’s possible entry into the Rajya Sabha. His remarks came just a day before the nomination deadline for the Rajya Sabha elections for five seats from Bihar.

Speculation Over Bihar’s Next Chief Minister

The possibility of Nitish Kumar moving to the Rajya Sabha has sparked intense political speculation about who could become the next Chief Minister of Bihar. In political circles, there is growing discussion that the position could go to a leader from the BJP if Nitish Kumar vacates the post.

Several names from the BJP are being discussed for the role, including Samrat Choudhary, Dilip Jaiswal, and Union minister Nityanand Rai. However, no official announcement has been made so far.

Possible Entry of Nishant Kumar into Politics

Amid these developments, Vijay Kumar Chaudhary also reiterated that Nitish Kumar’s son Nishant Kumar is likely to enter active politics soon. While he did not clarify who would succeed Nitish Kumar as Chief Minister if he moves to the Rajya Sabha, discussions have already started within the JD(U) regarding Nishant’s political role.

Some party leaders have even suggested that Nishant Kumar could be given a significant responsibility, possibly as Deputy Chief Minister, if the political equations change.

Changing Equations Within the NDA

If Nitish Kumar becomes a Rajya Sabha member, the power dynamics within the NDA government in Bihar could shift significantly. Currently, the state government has two deputy chief ministers from the BJP quota. However, if a BJP leader takes over as Chief Minister, the JD(U) could demand two deputy chief minister positions in the new arrangement.

With the nomination deadline approaching and political speculation at its peak, all eyes are now on whether Nitish Kumar decides to enter the Rajya Sabha race—a move that could reshape Bihar’s political leadership in the coming months.
